Fish wrappers you say? That’s what used to be useful about yesterday’s newspaper. But there are a few things that aren’t current, but interesting or fun or notable, so I’m archiving them here.

February 2019

SOLD OUT! Music to a musician’s ears!

It was so much fun to arrive at the Kitano on February 21st to find that Ladies Day had sold out the 8 pm show. Although we’ve played well-attended shows at the Kitano before, this was the first time we’d sold out the house. Thanks to everyone who came out! I hope you had as much fun listening as we had playing for you. We added several tunes to the repertoire this time out, including Lil Hardin Armstrong’s “Struttin’ With Some Barbeque”, “Rainbow”, a collaboration by the greats Abbey Lincoln and Melba Liston, and “No More Hanky Panky,” British vocalist Tina May’s delightful lyric to Dexter Gordon’s “Hanky Panky.”
